"The first details of Metal Gear Solid III have been released to the world, bringing to an end the media blackout that has surrounded Hideo Kojima's latest stealth outing.

The game, to be titled Metal Gear Solid III: The Patriots, will be released in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Unsurprisingly the game is to be directed by Hideo Kojima, and will again feature the voice of David Hayter as Solid Snake and Christopher Randolph as Hal Octagon. Further characters with more outlandish names are yet to be revealed.

According to our sources, the title is also expected to be a much more involving experience, with the player spending more time in first-person mode, complimented with more advanced AI and immersive sound effects"

so, it seems its for the PS2 and Xbox... I would of thought that they will iron out all the crapness from the Xbox before it gets released this time..lol

Hideo has been quoted in saying that he is working on a MGS game for the PS3, that obviously got a bit mixed up in translation.. and everyone thought he was talking about MGS3.

so MGS4... for the PS3 then! :rollin:

Source...link? The Xbox? Seeing as how WELL Substance sold on the Xbox, I highly doubt MGS3 will appear on the Xbox. Not only that, but KCEJ hates (!) working on simultaneous projects, especially with hardware that much different than the PS2's. I'd like to know where you got this info.

Look, trust me. Spong.com is the most unreliable website ever. Over at another gaming forum I visit, somebody EMAILED them a bullshit story that I used as a theory for an upcoming game. They actually ran the story, and refered to the sender as a close source to the company. After the forum linked to the fake story, Spong must've seen the thread and everybody laughing their ass off, and they took the story down.

Just a quick bit of news of a hint of a formal announcement of Metal Gear Solid 3. The IMDB have posted "Metal Gear Solid 3: The Patriots" on their website as a pre-production project. They suggest a 2004 release for MGS3.

Wether this is an official confirmation by Konami is another question. The IMDB get their information from the film and game industries but they have been known to remove movies once they have been posted. They may just be adding this preemptively.

So on the one hand this could be a confirmation that it is in production as "Metal Gear Solid 3: The Patriots" on schedule for a 2004 release. Anyway, just a small bit of news I thought i would post.

Do you remember when MGS2: Substance was Xbox only? like Silent hill2: restless dreams... they are all news storys that come out.. true or false, fact is at the time they get released, no one really knows what is truth or lies. Its just a good conversational piece.

if this information has been picked up by IGN, then Gamespot and others will follow, we'll have to see what is said and make up our own minds.

I do have to say though, after Hideo said that he was working on a MGS for the PS3, it seems strange why they would bring it forward to the PS2, and then to the Xbox.. which killed MGS2.

I would of thought after the trouble on the Xbox, they wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole...

I checked their press release, and I didnt see anything about MGS3....
