Hey all. This, in my opinion should be on the next newsletter. You know those 9 notes that classify victory that we've grown to love in previous Final Fantasy games? Well what if I told you that they won't be in Final Fantasy XIII. there is a link on Youtube where Lightning is in battle. It is a gameplay vid. Anyway, she wins the battle and this whole new song plays in place of our beloved victory fanfare. Now if this happens in the final release of FF13, Final Fantasy veterans like myself are gonna be disappointed because that song's been in like 12 Final Fantasies and it's gonna be a shocker when we hear this one. So Square Enix, you better watch out because you might have a lot of unhappy customers writing to you.

Anyways was the video from the demo or the the actual game?
If it is from the actual game we'll likely get the same, I'll be disappointed but......oh well, I'll learn to live without it.

Man, one day somebody is going to invent a way for us to actually link to content on other sites when we talk about them, so that other people can actually check it out for themselves instead of relying on the descriptions of others. One day...

Less snarky response: Could you possibly share the link to the Youtube video? I can't say I'd ever consider myself genuinely unhappy at the loss of a signature tune though, unless they replace it with Crazy Frog or something. It definitely would be a little odd to drop it after so long, considering it's the little things like that which provide a continuity of sorts among the otherwise separate worlds of each game.

It's not that you can't put in links, it's that every other forum in the modern world has the ability to embed links directly into posts, so people don't have to follow a link to YouTube, they can just check the vid without leaving the thread.

Better have the fanfare, it always makes a great ringtone I was disappointed we only got it a few times in FFXII.

Thanks Soultaker. That is a rather underwhelming victory fanfare compared to the classic. If that is how it's going to be (and I don't see why it would change) then maybe they save the classic for boss fights or something, rather than trot it out for every grunt fight. Or maybe it is gone completely. How was it used in FFXII?

i dont think there really was an official one just a battle theme not really sure lol also according to some interview or something with kitase or w/e his name is. He said the other fanfare will be saved for boss battles how true it is i unno i cant find it though yet
