Wifi has surpassed T1 speeds ages ago Felix. WiFi has speeds of up to 108mbps and higher in certain corporate and business cases.

The next step won't be necessarily WiFi downloads bur more so what i think sunburn was talking about which is Digital Media. The biggest problem with what you say Sunburn is the copyrighting issue. Though it can almost never be stopped you will notice most players won't do what you're thinking of. not unless they can offer some sort of protection.

Blu-Ray, DVD's, CD's, or any type of Disc media will always exist. Or atleast for the next couple of decades. Reason for it is not necessarily movies. But more so storing information in a cheap disposable media. Since Discs can be produced on a mass production level they can be produced cheaply and effectively. I still use CD's and slowly am moving into DVD's to store information. Because the cheaper they get the less i care if the CD does get damaged or ruined.

But i think your point does have a lot of merit in it sunburn, and i definitely see the future going in that direction.
