lol (either out of his arse or he hates Tenchu), the story line is ok, but it helps if you know what Lord Gohda is about (from Tenchu 1).
the first mission is because you're an assassin.. its your job to assassinate people (ahem.. thats what Ninja's did). Lord Gohda wants you to kill the evil merchant who is selling young girls for money and own sexual pleasures...
I don't understand why there needs to be a story line, its not MGS... you are doing your job. then it opens up about three missions in with a story about 3 stones of power that Lord Gohda did once have but now only owns one of... and thus the game begins.
its a pretty good story line, and what's more is that on Ayame 2nd mission you are in the same village that Rikimaru was in on mission 1... yet when Ayame there things are different. even though you have to kill the same merchant (which is a bit weird), things are not the same, its almost like Rikimaru has been there before you... and he was.
it takes real skill not to be spotted and to stealth kill every one on a particular level.. its just the dogs nads... talking of which, the poor hound just didn't see that sticky bomb I stuck on its arse....Boom!
to say the story is weak could be a factor.. but im on mission 8 with Rikimaru and mission 7 with Ayame.. only two more on her and one with Riki before I open up Tesshu to play, and I haven't got a problem with the characters or the story line.. its Tenchu, its the way its always been.
if you thought Tenchu was ok, and not too bothered about it either way, then you should rent or borrow this game.
if you feel however that Tenchu was the first 'true' stealth game that all other stealth games have followed... then Tenchu3 is the game for you
