In the States, personally I like various areas. The beach is always great. Tigertale is a beautiful beach, and places less commercialized in the Outer Banks are great. If you have the money Big Sur California and Monterey are fantastic, as is Yosemite. I have to say though that Washington, Montana, and Colorado have breathtaking views. I love Colorado and Washington. Montana is great as well, but unfortunately not much of the mountain areas are passable during winter, whereas in Co. and WA. there is more to do in winter. If fun in the city is what you want, try Chicago or NYC. Never a dull moment. Great places those two. I do have to plug my hometown of Savannah, GA. Lovely town, and you have Tybee Island at your disposal, Hilton Head 45 minutes up the street, and Charleston, SC just a couple hours drive at the most. Hot, sticky, heavy air with the smell of jasmine in the wind at night. Haunted houses, tales of pirates, easy-debutantes, history, idiot buckaneers, scandal, hoity toity heel clad women, not to shabby of a place. Can be a blast - especially on St. Paddy's Day when we dye the river green - loads of spud decendants in Savannah to make you hate the irish even more than normal. Will be going home next week for the festivities. Can't wait. Sure will be a helluvalot warmer down there than it is in this freaking place.
Thanks to my father I was taken many places as a child. He took me to Northern Ireland to meet some cousins, and we toured the country and I litterally fell in love with the place. I try to go back every couple years or so to see some family and try and find a pot o' gold or two. I have been to France, England, Amsterdam (FUN PLACE and not just for the hash either)and Scotland (great ****ing place!). I love Europe. Interesting and amazing place.
My father was going to take me to Africa when I turned 30, but since he is no longer with me I still plan on going when that age milestone hits. I want to see the rainforests, desert, flatlands, all the animals, the people, and soak up the atmosphere and culture of such a wondrous place before it is destroyed. I just wish he could have taken me because no one else that I know at present has the desire or spontaneity to enjoy Africa with me. Not even Kate.
Long story short, I think the only place I have been to in my short life that I DETEST (nothing personal if any of you are from there) is Detroit. HOW BORING.
