Dang, forgot this little side story.
Last year, in December (I live in Minnesota, so its damn cold) as a project for our ethics class, a few of my classmates and went out downtown. We stayed outside on the street for two days. Sure, it's only two days, but it was honestly one of the hardest things I've gone through. The fact that someone can call ALL homeless people cracked out bums that made their choices and now have to deal with the consequences is just mind boggling. Being alone on the streets is a truly horrendous experience. I can only begin to imagine what some people go through every day.
Did you know that after the Vietnam war, the average ocupation of the returning soldier was... Unemployment. We turned our backs on the returning vets, and they could not get back the jobs that they lost. So after their small checks were cashed, these brave men, risking death and horror for thier country and the glory of freedom, in your mind are horrible people that are lowlife scum, not better than starvation. Pure Ignorance.
