Truthfully, I don't believe many "potheads" are as well-spoken or intelligent as Bryan. I think your interpretation is poor.

The social stigma on marijuana is astounding. The effect it has on people will cause many to never try marijuna and look at it in a very negative light. Personally, I've never witnessed someone that smokes everyday a very contibuting force to society. Yet, the intake of marijuana on occassions seems equal to that of consuming alcohol. Most would consider someone who gets drunk everyday to have a problem...just as I would say someone who smokes pot everyday has a problem. However, when we look at those that drink alcohol on occassion to relieve the stress of work or whatever is going on in their life, we consider it socially acceptable; I have the same viewpoint of marijuana. To me, someone that smokes marijuana isn't a pothead, just as someone that drinks isn't necessarily an alcoholic. The frequency and actions taken during such events is a far better example of how to determine this.

You brought up a very interesting point with legalizing marijuana, Bryan...information I've never considered. I would counter with the fact that many people would also gain jobs in manufacturing marijuana and also those that currently have a "war on drugs" position would keep it because of the numerous other drugs involved; also many would gain jobs for advertisement of "smoke responsibly," similar to that of alcohol.

In the end, I'll admit I smoke marijuana on occassion. Truthfully, it can harm your actions and ability to accomplish certain things; yet as we've covered, the same can be said about alcohol. Responsible intake of marijuana is very comforting and relaxing. As Bryan elaborated on, it causes you to appreciate things about yourself and the environment around you that you never noticed. This doesn't seem to be the case with alcohol, as you have a tendency to completely forget portions of the experience. Also, for me consuming alcohol and marijuana at the same time is dangerous. This may be different for some people, but it's something I don't do from poor experiences. The effects of marijuana are many times lost with the addition of alcohol.
