An interesting point (for me, at least) that was raised in relation to this is that Microsoft are more than likely going to want their new console to be backwards compatible too, but with ATI working on their new console instead of nVIDIA it may not be possible to do so without some major glitches in the emulation. With the PS3 functioning as a brand new console AND two classic consoles (both of which have a huge library of great cheap titles) Sony have already got off to a good start. If they throw in a few other multimedia features too then Microsoft and Nintendo are really going to have their work cut out come 2005/6...
