Removing the game's biggest obstacle to enjoying it may not mean the rest of the game is actually enjoyable. There were a few reviews at the time Lair came out that went as far as saying that the game itself was fairly bland and generic and little more than a PS2 game with HD graphics, so the controls aren't necessarily the only thing holding it back.
A few comments I've seen have said that the Sixaxis controls still aren't entirely removed. Things like the quick 180 degree turn still use motion controls and could do with being more responsive. Ultimately then I suppose it depends on how cheap you can find it, or how easy it would be to find it for rental first. It definitely seems to be one of the PS3's more love/hate type of games.
