EA= bad news for Bad Company?
Now we all know that EA choose to live their life like a hated uncle, but a rich one that people still invite to the party, but this is now taking the piss. I don’t know how many of you have seen the vids for Battle Field Bad Company, imo they look amazing. A must have, certainly for me. Cod4 can go sit on one after looking at these vids!
That was until I found out about what EA plan to do with the DLC.
DLC for me is usually extra stuff, stuff that they didn’t include in the final game, you know you have way too much content and you have to stop somewhere! Also theyre the fun extra bits and bobs that take NOTHING away from the game itself. It seems that EA have just rewritten the book on this one. Seems that 5 extra weapons, characters for online and vehicles you will have to pay $2.00 each for. Basically what this says to me is that EA have made a full game, stripped it of weapons, vehicles and characters and then sold it back to us via DLC. I wonder if this is because they couldn’t fit a Burger King advert in Battlefield, and being so very sore about the whole thing decided to shaft everyone.
I noticed this in NFS: ProStreet, that on the PSN you could buy things like cars that you could unlock for free! That did disgust me, but obviously no one really brought that particular DLC probably due to a cheat that gave you extra cash so you could go and buy these cars if you didn’t want to earn them. EA must have been ‘gutted’, so this time around they just wont put that sort content in the game in the first place so we HAVE to buy it if we want a full game. If Battlefield was indeed a budget title, say $30 or £15.. and the extra bits cost $2 or £1 each, then cool.. I’m up with that. But we know that BF:BC will be a full priced game. I really want BF:BC, it looks awesome, but at what cost? In the UK it will probably cost £44.99, for half a game. But we could end up paying nearly £70 if we want to get all the DLC that is owed to the game. Remember this isn’t just ‘extra’ things for BF, this is actual content they have taken back from the finished game.
And here is a funny take on the situation by the Sarcastic Gamer via YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2y8p2Na-Bo
I’m not saying we should boycott it, I’m not saying you shouldn’t get the DLC, I know I will if I get this game, I’m just disgusted yet again with EA. I’m disgusted with the advertising in Burnout, Tiger Woods, FiFa, the DLC in NFS and now this… and I am sure I’m missing out other terrible ethical gaming decisions made by EA.
….And they want to buy TT and R* with GTA…
Theres a poll on the main page asking what ‘IF’ EA acquires TakeTwo, will the GTA games bet better, worse or not change. 74% believe they will get worse, and I believe that judgement is well founded. If previous other games are to go by, the EA touch will certainly poison the GTA series. Probably not enough for us not to buy GTA, but more than enough for us to remember the good old days before EA to their claws in to TT.
I for one really hope they don’t buy TT.
