The thing about Thompson though is that he does have the ear of certain people, and while he definitely could be ignored as an individual he does manage to convince others (those who admittedly need little convincing) of the evils of video games. I agree the gaming press at large should avoid covering his antics because it gives the false impression that he matters to gamers, but outside of gaming circles he's often considered a credible source, popping up on TV every time there's a school shooting or a gamer (ie. most people under thirty) commit a crime.

here. He definitely has gone off the rails lately, telling the Florida Bar their building will soon
look like Hiroshima and filing
gay porn (no pics in the link) where it will forever be part of the publicly-accessible record. The best example of his odd behaviour is this
filing (.doc file), which he filled with pictures to help the Florida Bar understand him. It's bizarre.
