Well, it might not (and since you have high speed[Comcast,Verizon, etc], it probably isn't) you. The people you see jumping around might be on slow connections, likewise freezes/disconnections can and often happen because the host is on a connection with minimal bandwidth.

If you have computers setup on your network as well as your gaming system of choice, it's a good idea to end processes that use up a lot of bandwidth.

But then again the PS2 is a more primitive online gaming machine, don't know if maybe the older ones (phat) were more likely to fail than the newer ones (slim).
