I'd pay very good money to see you say that to a Welsh nationalist! I actually don't speak Welsh (as much as I really wish I could) and the majority of Wales doesn't. In the late 19th/early 20th century our government were put under pressure for the nation to learn to speak English for job prospects and the like, with Welsh being banned in school. Now only 21% (I think) are first language Welsh and they probably all speak English. It's a shame, although I have no problem with English people at all, a lot don't realise how we were opressed back in the day and it doesn't really go recognised.
Incidentally I learnt all this on a school trip in Llangollen almost ten years ago
