It's a shame that the whole 2D scrolling beat-em-up genre has fallen out of favour. I had fun with things like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Double Dragon and the like, not least because co-operative play was a standard feature. I think it's one of those genres that didn't benefit from the jump to 3D (with the camera often being an issue), or indeed the move away from the challenging coin-op mentality that made games hard to get you to spend more money.

Still, with Live Arcade, WiiWare and whatever the Sony version is called (is it just the PS Store?) there's no reason simple games like that can't see a resurgence, assuming there's a demand for them.
