I haven't played a FIFA game in a long time and I have given up on the Pro Soccer franchise after Pro Soccer 4 as its always the same game.
After reading about FIFA and the ball controls and seeing FIFA in action it did seem promissing. I tried the demo and I do think they move realisticly as when you run with the ball you have to stop control the ball, turn, control the ball some more and then you run with the ball. If you see it on TV they don't run with the ball and in split second timing run the oppisite way like in Pro Soccer. In FIFA the ball isn't glued to your feet, so if your running with the ball, the ball may be 3 feet away and you would need to stop the ball before you can do anything else, like in real football. You'll be pressing the buttons quickly but seeing it act slower on screen, remember this isn't Ninja Gaiden Soccer?
The closer the games become to real life the less we'll like the games.
After saying all that I still didn't think much of the game, maybe becasue I couldn't score, lol. But those graphics are terrible. When I was playing, the camera was positioned in the default view, which is high up similar to Pro Soccer, but i thought I was playing Lego Soccer. The HD videos I've been watching are a better quality than the game itself.
My mate said not to worry as it will look better when it comes out but honestly, I think that demo is will close to the final representation of the full game upon release.
I don't know whats going on but the demos on the 360 are looking better than the final copies on the PS3. First it was Stranglehold that had serious jaggy problems, then NBA live, and now FIFA 08. NHL demo was crisp clean and sharp so why hasn't EA done the same with the others?
The one I'm most bothered about is Stranglehold and I hope the retail version is a big improvement but how am I supposed to know this? Based off the demos the 360 version is the one thats has crisp, clean smooth graphics but I don't know if the final PS3 copy will? But the PS3 version has way better controls, they were much smoother.
I don't think reviews will help unless there is a comparison and the review mentions how much the PS3 version has improved over the demo, and has AA.
