Wi-Fi Setup on a Win2000 machine??
I've only ever set up a wireless connection on an XP machine, but I just got an older (read: very cheap) laptop. It's a Gateway Solo 9500 running Windows 2000 Professional. I also got a Orinoco (Lucent Technologies) Gold 11Mbit/s WiFi card with it. It's a Lucent PC24e-h-fc card. No software included.
The system underwent a complete reformat/reinstall prior to my inheriting it. It appears that the card software was not installed (can't find it anywhere on the hard drive).
Any suggestions on where to get the software for it and how to set up the WLAN connection would be appreciated.
Edit:
The main battery appears to be shot. It'll run on AC, but it won't hold a charge. I see a new main battery will run over $100, but a second battery (can be plugged into the modular bay currently holding a 3.5" floppy drive) is only about $20 including shipping. Would the machine work using just the "additional" battery? Would using both the worn out main & the new additional battery work? Or would that just bring the new additional battery to an early death?
