Default UFC/Pride Mixed Martial Arts Thread *Many contain Spoilers*

I'm not sure who many Mixed Martial arts fans there are on the forums, but this topic will showcase the UFC events/TV and the PRIDE Fighting Championship from Japan. I prefer Pride due to the tech aspect of it, but UFC has been really doing good with it's fights over the last year or so. Plus with UFC purchase of Pride in Japan and Dana White's promise to keep it seperate and the original way it looked, it's still going to kick some ass.

I was a big boxing fan back in the late 90's and up until 2002 or so, then the sport died for me.....but I've been watching UFC/Pride since then and the ass kicking is insane.

Re-Cap of fight:

LAS VEGAS, May 26 –

Chuck Liddell’s right hand had extracted revenge for him on many occasions, leading him on a reign of terror at 205 pounds that saw him win seven fights in a row, all by KO or TKO. But tonight, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the streak came to an end at the hands of the last man to beat him, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, who earned the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with a stunning first round TKO.

And it all started with a right hand to the jaw.

“That’s how I saw it in my head,” said Jackson, who stopped Liddell in the second round of their PRIDE bout in Japan on November 9, 2003.

“I made a mistake and got caught,” said the 37-year old Liddell.

The tension was thick early on as camera flashes were seen throughout the arena. The action didn’t match the atmosphere in the opening minute though, bringing a look of disdain and a wave in from Jackson to engage. Liddell obliged, but after Jackson absorbed a left hook from ‘The Iceman’, he came back immediately with a right hook that dropped Liddell to the canvas hard. ‘Rampage’ immediately pounced on the soon to be ex-champion, and after four unanswered blows, referee John McCarthy halted the bout at the 1:53 mark, and a new king was crowned at 205 pounds.

With the win, Jackson improves to 27-6. Liddell falls to 20-4.

If your in to it, tonights UFC 71 was insane. Finally, Rampage Jackson got the light heavyweight title and it was from a re-match with Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell.

Now, if you taped this live event, the title topic will be spoilers of course. Here's a video link to some re-caps of that fight. Chuck never had a chance and he can say that he was ok but his body went limp after that right hook to the chin. Even from that pic above, he's out of it.

If you have only been following UFC and not Pride, you might not know the history and how much of a bad ass Ramage is lol. This guy can hit hard and take names, and spills out trash and regular talk with mic skills like the Rock. Ramage got screwed in Pride for any type of title and now after tonights fight, he's a on a Ramage (Pun intended)

If your looking for some back history on Rampage, here's a vid from his Pride days (Note the different ring style)

It's going to be an interesting year for UFC and Pride (Now if I could get my hands on some UFC HD on Xbox Live marketplace it would own, damn region thingy!)
