This is a great site that lets you test your connection speed. An admin on the resistance forums suggested using it to see if you'll have a problem playing online.
My work connection is sucky:
Will post my home connection later. Last nigh it was about 2044 download, 245 upload. Can't recall the latency but I think it was about 45.
They have confirmed that if your connection is too slow you will be banned from the PS3 network.
