Welp, there go the Mavs. That was a crazy series. I feel kinda bad for the Mavs, but good for G-State, Oakland is a great basketball town, and they deserve to have to team that they can be excited about. Huge games by Stephan Jackson (SEVEN threes!?) and Baron Davis (with the bad hammy no less). That's a fun team to watch, looking ahead can you imagine how much fun the potential Western Conference Finals matchup between them and the Suns would be (even though I don't want it to happen for obvious reasons)? Man. Bad series for Dirk, it's gonna weird seeing him get the MVP here soon after that debacle. I think the secret to him is to guard him with someone smaller. He's just not athletic enough to drive around them, and he doesn't have must of post game, so he winds up shooting jumpers all night. That's great when they're falling like they are some nights, but when they aren't, it can be pretty ugly for him.
Jazz won again. Like I said, totally different team at home, and it's going to be a shame if they wind up losing the series because they blew home court advantage going down the stretch. Big game by Kirilenko. He finally started to score a little, and was a monster on D, pretty much shuting down T-Mac. As great as he can be, this has been a rough year for him, I'm not so sure that Utah wouldn't be better off trading him for a swingman or draft pick in the offseason. He seems like he might have been the proverbial great player on a bad team, and I think he's better off when he's allowed to play the 4 (which he can't do in Utah because of Boozer, who continued to be Utah's best player with a great game again last night. Huge series from him). I don't think that will actually happen, and I'd be sad to see him go, but I'm not so sure it wouldn't be for the best.
Game seven tomorrow night in Houston. I really do think Utah is the better of the two teams, but they're bad on the road, and I have this terrible feeling that McGrady is going to explode. His history in big play-off games isn't the greatest, but he still really worries me. Still, I'm excited for the game, it's been awhile since Utah was in a game as big as this one. It's good to be back in the playoffs, whatever happens.
