Yeah, that'll probably last about 2 seconds. Like Sunny said, for some reason people will go to tremendous lengths to ruin good things. I rarely faced cheaters on Madden '07, but there were still ways to cheat or even just not play according to the spirit of the game.
But a cool feature that the next-gen systems have is the ability to ban an entire system from the network. On X-box and PS2, they can only block IP addresses. On the next-gen systems, your system has a unique code that is sent to the network whenever signing on, and that way Sony and MS can just ban the codes and force the cheaters to buy a new system to keep playing.
That does make buying used systems a little more complicated, though. But since cheating is so rampant on games like Halo 2, it kind of is necessary.
