Whoop, didn't realize you were talking about South Africa, I for whatever reason assumed that with SA you meant San Andreas from GTA, which seemed sorta goofy to me. I can't really speak as to what it's like in South Africa, I don't have any idea what it's like over there.
And look, I'm not saying guns are always a good thing. Obviously in the wrong hands they can be terrible. But, that's not the fault of the gun, it's who's using it ( or as the saying goes, "guns don't kill people, people kill people"). In the vast majority of cases they're perfectly safe and are a viable form of protection and entertainment.
