no, I think im right. I think Sony said that the reason why the PS3 is so expensive is because it won’t last your normal console life, in fact it will out live the normal life expectancy for a console.

The cell processor is so powerful that the PS3 will be able to upgrade its firmware, so the need for a brand new console doesn’t need to happen.

if you read back in an interview on the main page here of PSXE, one chap said that even at the end of the PS3's life, the PS3 will not be running games at its full capacity, scary yes.. but think of what MGS could be like in five years time.. or seven!!.

originally Sony said that the PS3 will last 10 years, I can imagine if you asked Sony that again, they will probably say less, but the technology there can last that long.
