I think for big stuff it's either royal mail courier or white van man. Neither fill me with great confidence but they've been ok so far.
As for Ebay, I'm loathe to trust handing cash over for something where:
A) trading standards (or whover it is) don't have my back.
B) I don't have access to an office address where I can go and maim people if they try to screw me over.
